who makes littlemissmaker?

Littlemissmaker is Emma Simpson.

I trained in graphic design at Camberwell School of Arts (part of University of the Arts London) Now I’m a senior design professional with over thirteen years experience working for titles such as Good Housekeeping, Living etc, Company, InStyle, Saturday Telegraph Magazine and most recently of course in charge of design for The Comic for The Guardian.

Whilst studying for my degree, the course director of the time told me never to make anything ever again! Yes!
Really!
To be fair, I think it’s because in making, I’m drawn towards cute and sweet and not really the edgy cutting edge design required of the course. I’m still a far better designer than maker but I do love making stuff and I don’t care about pushing boundaries or doing anything new. I just want to create things that please me to have around. I’ve made things for myself, family and friends in my spare time for years and it wasn’t until doing The Comic full of things to make and do for kids that it occurred to me to share the stuff I make. Suddenly I found myself doing step by step tutorials showing kids how to make things and the cross over between my design work and making stuff began…
